Brow & Forehead Lift

Conveniently located to serve Kansas City, MO.

Dr. Singhal performs Brow and Forehead Lifts to raise eyebrows and reduce ridges and furrows on the forehead, thus creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with other surgeries. It’s the perfect choice to reduce the gravitational pull of the forehead skin and eliminate the early signs of aging. If you want to take a few years off your age, this the perfect choice. Many people who have had this surgery are pleased with the result.

What to Expect

An incision is generally made across the top of the head from the front of one ear to the front of the other ear. The forehead and brows are elevated and excess skin is removed. The flap is then sutured. Newer techniques now allow us to perform Forehead Lifting through small incisions in the scalp by using an Endoscope and specialized instruments. This accelerates the healing process.

This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return to your home the same day as the procedure.

Preparing for Brow and Forehead Lift Surgery

Before undergoing a brow and forehead lift, you will first need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Virender Singhal. He will perform an examination of your facial features and ask you about your medical history to determine if you are a good fit for the surgery. You will also have to be prepared to follow pre-surgical instructions that will require you to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking certain medications for a few weeks before the procedure.

During the Surgery

Brow lifts are done endoscopically or coronally. A coronal incision keeps the surgical scar from being visible. Incisions are closed either with sutures or a special skin adhesive. Some patients may choose to get other procedures like a neck lift or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) done at the same time.

Post-Operative Care

Antibiotics may be prescribed for several days following surgery. Sutures are generally removed within one week. Swelling and some bruising may occur, they should subside within a few weeks. Our doctors will prescribe ice compresses and eye exercises to reduce swelling and regain mobility.

After the surgery, you will have to keep your head elevated for better wound drainage. Take care to not pull on your facial skin after the surgery as the treatment area needs time to settle into the newly formed contours. Women can use eye cosmetics up to two weeks after surgery. You can proceed with your normal daily activities within 1-2 weeks. A final evaluation may occur within several months from the initial surgical procedure. Results of the procedure will be visible about 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery.

Your insurance company may pay for part or all of the cost of surgery if the procedure is performed as a result of visual impairment. Because every insurance carrier is different, it is recommended that you check with your own insurance company to determine the level of coverage.
