How Do I Know If My Upper-Eyelid Procedure Will Be Covered by My Insurance?

In severe cases of eyelid ptosis, surgery may be required to restore the patient’s field of vision. The insurance company will need proof that indicates surgery is a medical necessity. That is why high resolution photographs of your upper eyelids will need to be taken.

High resolution photos of the upper eyelids can be used to illustrate that the upper eyelids are obscuring a significant portion of the patient’s field of vision. While the exact measurements may vary between insurance companies, if the upper-eyelid skin falls within about 2 millimeters from the middle of the pupil then the procedure can be considered medically necessary.

If you believe that your upper-eyelid ptosis is diminishing your field of vision, contact Singhal Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Virender Singhal can provide you with the care you need.
